‘Dr. AHM Karim and Hosne Ara Begum Trust Fund’ has been formed to provide scholarships to students admitted to the 1st year undergraduate program of the Department of Development Studies, Dhaka University. For the formation of this trust fund, Dr. AHM Karim and Hosne Ara Begum’s son-in-law Syed Abdullah Al Muti handed over a cheque of Tk 10 lakh to the Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University, Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan, on Tuesday, May 20, 2025.
At this time, the Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) of Dhaka University, Professor Dr. Saima Haque Bidisha, Treasurer Professor Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Professor Dr. Taiyebur Rahman, Chairperson of the Department of Development Studies, Professor Dr. Naeem Sultana, Professor Dr. M Saiful Islam, Acting Registrar Munshi Shams Uddin Ahmed and donor family members Md. Shafiqur Rahman and Syeda Sima Akhter were present.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan thanked the donor for forming this trust fund. He expressed the hope that students will benefit a lot through this. He mentioned that such an initiative will play an effective role in further strengthening the relationship of the university with the society.
From the income of this trust fund, three indigent students of the first year undergraduate program of the Department of Development Studies will be provided scholarships every year. Each student will be provided with a scholarship of 24 thousand taka for one year at the rate of 2 thousand taka per month.
We are a non profit supporting health screening services, access to clean water and preserving environment in selected areas in Bangladesh.
